Multiple Account Switching Coming To Instagram

Despite becoming the premier social media platform for aspiring photographers and hipster coffee connoisseurs across the globe, Instagram has often attracted criticism for its app’s inability to switch seamlessly between multiple accounts. It seems however that the powers that be at Instagram HQ are finally giving the people what they want and have announced that a feature will be provided next week that allows users to swap between their various accounts without the need to completely log out of one page and into another. Reports that such a feature was undergoing user testing have been surfacing over the last couple of months but the company have now officially confirmed that the next update will include the ability to effortlessly switch between multiple accounts on the Instagram app. Instagram has grown into an invaluable utility for promoting new businesses and engaging with potential customers and because of this, it’s very common for Instagrammers to have a personal and business account on the site. Alternatively, some of the more popular uploaders have separate accounts for their various interests: amateur cupcake baking and underwear modelling for instance; two things that should definitely not be confused for each other. With social media giants such as Facebook and Twitter already offering this handy feature, it was vital for Instagram to keep up with the crowd in order to stay relevant for its users and offer the most up to date and user friendly experience possible. Available for both Android and iOS, the feature allows for a total of five multiple accounts which, once verified, will all be neatly arranged by username at the head of your profile screen. A simple tap on the desired account name will take you to the relevant page. Of course, with this new seamless switching between accounts, it becomes easier than ever to accidentally post a picture of your dog dressed up as Professor Dumbledore onto your company’s Instagram. As a step to prevent these kind of job-endangering incidents, the active account’s profile photo will remain constantly visible as an indicator of the page you are currently posting from. It’s also worth keeping in mind that you will receive push notifications for any and all accounts added, so be careful to amend your settings accordingly to avoid a barrage of notification sounds from your phone.
